The Bedouin Stole my Internet

All Internet and land line communications in Mitzpe Ramon have been down since Friday night. Apparently Bedouin thieves have made off with a portion of the trunk line that connects Mitzpe Ramon and Yerocham to the rest of the world.

Although the line can be stollen in a few hours, it will take days to reestablish serivce. For now, I only only have wireless mobile access to the outside world.

The Bedouin steal all sorts of metal infrastructure for sale on the black market. Copper from electrical wire fetches a pretty penny. The last time I believe this happened is when the Bedouin stole the rails connecting Jerusalem and Beer-Sheva, closing that railroad line for about a week. This seems like a major security threat, but I have no idea what the government is doing about it.

In any case, I'll be back to posting as soon as my DSL service returns.
